Beach photo shoot (1)

Hi readers, it’s Emily, Kerry and William here this week, writing at Billy Winters, a really cool and friendly beach café on the road from Weymouth to Portland. Check it out!

It’s a gorgeous, sunny November day and as we write, we are looking out to sea. Laura, who normally helps us write the column, is helping on the photo shoot here (more on that later) so we are excited to have two lovely ladies with us today instead.

They are Laura’s friend Sue, from London, who’s visiting her, and Kirsty from Leamington Spa. Kirsty is the niece of Emma, a marketing whizz and who’s also on the Advisory Board at People First Dorset.

So, a photo shoot? Well, we were asked if we would like to be in some new pictures for People First Dorset. We said a big yes!

Kerry organised a taxi for us three and our fab friend Natalie. It was nice, if a bit of a squash in the back of the taxi! Our other friends Aimee, Charlotte and Nathan came too, and us three had delicious pizza for lunch and yummy drinks.

Emma organised the photos, which were taken by a fab photographer called Alia, who kindly volunteered her time to help. They told us what to do and where to be. It was a lot of fun! Our first was us three sitting outside on a picnic bench on the beach. Alia took loads of photos of us all during the afternoon. We think our best photo might have been the last one, at the end of the dining room, when we sat on a bench together inside. It was so colourful.

Next week we’ll talk more about why we are doing the photo shoot, so tune in and find out!

The writers of the Our View column are supported in their editing by People First Dorset - a charity led and run by people with learning disabilities with support from staff
