Looking forward

Hi readers, it’s Emily and William here writing about things we are looking forward to in 2022.

What I, William, am most looking forward to this year is, with luck, having discos back in person at the Friendship Club. I have really missed these and they are so much fun.

For me, Emily, it’s all about staying healthy and meeting up with friends. I made a new friend during the pandemic on Friendship Club zoom events but we haven’t even met up in person yet. I am looking forward to that happening!

Other things we would both like for this year are no more lockdowns; a new body (we think lots of people would like that) and many more exercise classes at the Dorford Centre as they are really good. We also hope to go on the holidays we have booked, me William to the Lake District with Jolly Days Holidays and me, Emily to Butlins with my friends.

We are both looking forward to the Healthy Eating and Anxiety workshops that People First Dorset are running soon as we want more help to eat well and keep our weight down, and to manage our anxiety better. It’s really good we get the chance to go to workshops like this, with our friends. Not only is it more fun with them but if we, or one of us or our friends has a problem, then we will be more likely to know how to support each other.

I, William, am looking forward to getting some support at home too now my parents are getting older and it’s harder for them to help me! A nice lady will be helping me each week for an hour with my shopping, making sure I buy healthy things, and keeping an eye on things at home.
