Hi readers, it’s Emily and William here thinking about the people in Pakistan right now.
Here we are in the United Kingdom, having had a lovely hot summer but also worrying about the lack of rain and how much the plants and farmland needs more water. How we have worried about there being a drought and if this is beginning of worse things to come with climate change.
And then we hear about what is going on in Pakistan, with so much of the country under water. It’s hard to imagine how scared, frightened and worried people out there must be. Can you imagine what it would be like if that happened in England?
We both feel terrible and upset for people out there and want the UK, and other countries, to give lots of aid to help people, as they need help right now. We have helped people in Ukraine and we should help people in other countries too.
We don’t really know a lot about it, like the history of Pakistan or the geography of it, and why they are getting all this flooding. We do know that many think it’s because of climate change and it’s because of the especially heavy monsoon rains. We also know that Pakistan is not a big polluter so it seems unfair they will suffer from the effects of climate change first.
We would love to see more news in ways which are easier for us to follow. Sometimes it’s hard to watch because it’s so upsetting and it’s hard to know what we can do to help.
We hope that by the time this goes to print that there is more aid to go to Pakistan and that we will all do what we can to help others less lucky than ourselves.
