Emily’s holiday

Hi readers, Emily, Kerry and William here, online this week, sorting out our diaries as we’ve lots coming up.

First, please do come to our launch of ‘Not Lost’, the illustrated book we’ve written with Catherine Owen about Susie the cat. It’s on Wednesday 23rd October, at the Dorford Centre in Dorchester, 5pm – 6pm. We’d love to see you!

Second, we (Kerry and William) wanted to hear about Emily’s holiday. We’ve asked her loads of questions. Here are her answers.

‘Mum and I didn’t exactly get off to a good start. Our drive to see my Aunt in the Peak District took 8 hours, so quite tiring. Thankfully we had four days there, and she’d organised lots of things, including an open top bus tour. I especially enjoyed Castleton and the Peak Cavern, the largest cave entrance in England, where rope was made. It does have another name, quite rude, so best you look it up!

Next Mum drove us to Snettisham in Norfolk. Highlights here included Hunstanton Beach, Sandringham Country Park, Kings Lynn and Cromer, where the rain came down heavier and heavier.

Finally, we stayed in Enstone, near Chipping Norton, in the Cotswolds, where our air b&b had incredibly steep stairs! We enjoyed exploring the lovely areas, liken Moreton-in-Marsh or Stow on the Wold, a highlight here seeing the north porch of St. Edward’s Church. It’s like out of a fairy story, possibly inspiring Tolkien (who visited the area) when creating the ‘Doors of Durin’ in Lord of the Rings. It’s small and is said that only a hobbit can fit through it!

It was a nice time great with Mum. If I could go back anywhere it would be Enstone. With only two nights there, I’d love to see more of that area.’
