TV Licence, diabetes, sun and more!

Hi readers, Kerry and Emily here. This week I, Kerry, being British, am starting with the weather!
So, after a month or so of confusing weather – changing quickly from to too cold - we’re now in this heatwave. Great if you’re on the beach or by a pool, but unpleasant if you are working, especially with little ventilation. It got me thinking about choices in life, and weather being one thing we can’t control. How it’s easy to complain if it’s too hot, too cold or not what we want. Maybe it’s easier to just accept what we get!
On Saturday a few of us met in town, sitting outside Finca in the sun. But we didn’t talk weather, instead we chatted about the TV licence and what might happen in 2027 after the BBC licence charter ends.
We know some people want it to work like Netflix, while others think it should continue as it is. It got us thinking about what the TV licence pays for – tv, radio, local radio and news, children’s tv, public announcements and some world service. We also know some people don’t trust it, so maybe it’s more about making sure that it’s as impartial as possible?
This week I also joined an online diabetes prevention session. We did some mindfulness activities, with a story to help our mind and body relax. It was actually very good. It was interesting that most people on the group don’t like Teams and reminded me too that I still prefer meeting people in person.
Finally got to share, am really pleased with myself this week, as I had a really good day where I did all my exercises, used my standing frame, sorted my washing, came into town and more – haven’t done that much in months!
