Cinema

Hi readers, it’s Kerry and William here, catching up online. Emily’s not with us today as she’s busy getting ready for a weekend in London.

It’s been like that, the last few months, having a good, busy time. Today we wanted to focus on downtime, like going to the local cinema as I, Kerry, am seeing Paddington this weekend.

We love having two cinemas in Dorchester, the Plaza and Odeon, both with wheelchair access, and will tell you which films are accessible to wheelchairs (the Plaza is in an old building but it’s great that two screens are accessible).

We got talking about the pros and cons of cinemas. The biggest positive must be the massive screen. Also, the comfy seats, it gets us out of the house, and importantly it’s great escapism. It’s easy to get distracted watching films at home, but at the cinema you can switch off!

Reasons to stay home and watch films included, of course, it’s cheaper to buy a film, especially if there are several of you. It’s also easier to just turn on the TV than go out to the cinema.

One thing annoying at the cinema can be the noise. We are not keen on people chomping on popcorn, scrunching sweet packets or talking through the film. Something that doesn’t worry William is something I, Kerry find frustrating, and that’s a tall person sat in front of you!

It can be quite funny seeing people who arrive late, trying to be quiet  as they find a seat, but then gets frustrating if that becomes noisy and takes ages - they just need to get on with it!

We will continue to do both. We definitely will supporting our two local cinemas, because if we don’t use them, we’ll lose them!
