Emily job interview

Hi readers, its Emily here, writing this on Thursday last week, wanting to let you know about a job interview I have tomorrow!

I have been looking for a job for ages, and am lucky to have support from Sam at Seetech Plus, to help me find one. However I am learning, that finding a job if you have a learning disability is not easy, which national statistics confirm. After writing many job applications and hearing nothing, I was starting to feel a bit down and frustrated. Then, bingo, the Co-op came back to me, and offered me an interview!

First, just to say I liked their application form.  Not just the usual questions, they also ask practical ones, like what you’d do if there was a spill on the shop floor, and you were called to the tills. I think this is great, as they help show how you’d manage in real work situations.

Over the last couple of weeks I’ve been busy practicing interview skills, and learning more about the Co-op. The more I discover, the more I want to work there. Today, Laura, who’s with me, asked some mock questions. I knew the answers which felt good. Laura even said I should be a brand ambassador, because I was so passionate and engaging about the Co-Op, it made her want to shop there!

Choosing what to wear has probably been the hardest part! I want to be smart, but also feel comfortable. After trying on several outfits, I’ve decided on a peach shirt, black trousers and shoes, which feels smart and relaxed.

So, as you read this on Tuesday, please cross your fingers for me. I’ll either still be waiting to hear, or know if I’ve got the job or not. I’ll be sure to update you next week!
