Enjoying the Sunshine – Warm is Great, Too Hot is Tricky!

Hi readers, Emily and Kerry here. You’ve got me Emily, writing today. I absolutely love warm, sunny days - they make everything feel very happy! But lately, it’s been way too hot and sticky. The best kind of weather is sunny with a gentle breeze blowing through; that feels just perfect.

Evenings are my favourite time of day. Once it cools off I enjoy being outside much more. I love sitting in the garden with my housemates and our staff too. We have a good chat, laugh lots, and watch all the nature around us. Some nights we’ve enjoyed meals outside, which I love!

I’ve been busy in the garden too! I pulled out weeds from the patio to make it neat, then planted pretty colourful flowers, now growing so nicely.

I have also been looking after the birds that visit us. I put up feeders full of tasty seeds, and leave out fresh, cool water for them to drink and splash in. It is such fun to sit quietly, watching them fly in and out. But sometimes big birds, like Stephen Seagull!- eat the food before the tiny little birds get a turn! When I think they’ve had enough, I gently shoo them away so smaller birds can come down, eat their dinner and drink safely too.

We must make the most of this lovely weather, because hot days like these don’t happen often here! This weather is great for one very useful thing too - drying our clothes on the line. It’s good not to use the tumble dryer, or have wet clothes all over the dining room or big drying racks getting in the way!

I am going to enjoy every bit of these sunny, warm and gentle days while they last.
