Hi readers, Emily and Kerry here. Remember last week we talked about the nativity? How people can forget about this, in all the focus on presents and parties, in the build up to Christmas!
Well, today (Sunday) both of us went to the Dorchester Baptist Church’s Inclusive Carol Service. As always, it was a truly lovely service. It’s something the church have been putting on for many years now, and many of us from People First Dorset (PFD) enjoy going. Quite a few of our friends came, which was great.
Being inclusive, it’s open to anyone who struggles to attend normal church services. Lots of our friends have sensory issues, or need to move around but in these services, everyone is welcome.
Â
We like it because it’s also fun and festive, put on by fabulous folk from the church, and there’s food in the form of a delicious tea afterwards. And most of all we enjoy going because as well as being something to look forward to, it’s good to remember what Christmas is all about. We also love coming together with friends and meeting new people.
Â
This year, I, Emily was part of the choir, which I really enjoyed, and was asked to dress as a cook! A highlight for many people is the puppet show the church put on, as part of the service. It’s really good and there’s always an important message amongst all the fun! One of our lovely friends Tessa read out a poem she’d written, which was great.
Â
Are you going to a carol service this year, or midnight mass maybe? We hope you are beginning to enjoy the run up to Christmas and aren’t too fed up of Christmas songs yet!
Â
We’ll have more for you next week but until then, take care, see you then.
