Lovely unexpected day

Hi readers, it’s Emily and Kerry here as usual with me, Kerry writing today before Emily gets to tell us all about her cruise!

I want to tell you about my day, last Saturday. In the morning, after getting up, it was a day I just couldn’t decide what to do. So I thought I’d head into town.

While the weather had other ideas, it turned out to be a good day for catching up with people. The town felt busy with lots of people out and about. I needed to do some shopping first, and immediately I bumped into a friend outside a shop, and had a nice chat with them before carrying on.

Feeling peckish, I popped into Coffee#1 and treated myself to a bacon roll and mug of coffee. As I took my last bite, I looked up to see another friend sitting nearby enjoying some cake. She hadn’t seen me, so I went over, and we had a lovely chat about friends in common, how we’d both been feeling, and established that neither of us are keen on thunderstorms!

Finally, I went to Waitrose and spoke to some staff I know there, who said it had been a very busy day. We wondered if the heavy rain had brought more people into town, even if they had to shelter in shops while they waited for each downpour to ease.

As I got home, I reflected on my day where a simple trip into town turned into a day full of friendly faces, good conversations and lots of smiles. It made me remember that sometimes the best days are ones that happen by chance, and also that it’s one of the things I like most about living in our community.
