New Year thoughts…

Hi readers, just me, Kerry here this week, reflecting on my Christmas and New Year.

Christmas Day was really pleasant, as I spent it at home with my partner Steve and a close friend Richard. We had a relaxed day together, just what we all needed. At least except for the turkey, which even after following all the instructions, came out of the oven bone dry!  Thankfully my support worker Louise came to the rescue and popped to Lidl, and bought a chicken there instead. That was very tasty, so it all worked out in the end, but it did make us laugh!

This year I got some lovely presents from friends, thanks all of you. Later on Christmas Day, we popped into the Brewhouse, a good choice as it was so quiet, just a few people there having drinks. We enjoyed chatting with the bar staff, who arealways friendly and welcoming.

I had a quiet day at home for New Year before heading back to the Brewhouse with friends, to welcome in 2026. A simple celebration but a good one.

As I write this on Friday 3rd January, it’s quiet outside, maybe because it’s so cold and icy on the streets. No snow yet, but you never know!

I quite like this time of year. Life feels calmer, and it gives me time to reflect. This Christmas, I’ve been thinking about friends and family who are no longer with us. It can be sad, but it also feels important, and I’m ok with that.

But now I’m ready to get back to work, as starting to get a bit fed up of the holidays. I’m lucky to enjoy my work and looking forward to getting back into the routine and swing of that again!
