Hi readers, Emily and Kerry here, with another fun but important event we went to last week, that we want to tell you about.
It was the People First Dorset (PFD) Annual General Meeting (AGM). As most of you will know, all charities must have an AGM every year. This is when we tell our members and the public about what we have done over the last financial year. What money we got in, what we spent, and what we did with it!
We are both on the PFD Management Committee. This is an elected group of members (with a learning disability) who help govern PFD, and we sit alongside the Board of Trustees.
It is our job to present what we have done over the year. For us all, it’s a great moment to look back over the year and see just how much we have done and achieved. The events we have held and how we have been able to support members. There is never any shortage of things to talk about. What is also good is that we all wear our bright orange PFD t-shirts, which means no-one will miss us!
At the AGM we also get to vote in trustees. This year we said goodbye to some brilliant trustees who have had to step down. But we also were very pleased to welcome two fabulous new trustees, who got voted in. Welcome to Andrew and Richard!
This week we only have one more event, the Christmas meal and disco at the Junction Hotel in Dorchester, and aside from a Christmas online event next week, it’s time to have a short break before we start more activities in the new year.
We’ll have more for you next week but until then, take care, see you then.
