This Ain’t Texas

Hello everyone, it’s Emily and Kerry here. This week it’s me, Kerry, writing about a rocking time I had last Friday at the ‘This Ain’t Texas’ festival on Dorchester Showground.

First, I had fun deciding what to wear. To get into the spirit of things I chose a cowboy hat, skirt and a new top! My partner was too shy to dress up, so simply wore shorts and T-shirt but it didn’t stop him having a good time.

At the festival, there were colourful outfits everywhere we looked. Most people had cowboy hats and boots. Everyone was friendly, happy and enjoying themselves. I’m not sure if it was the sunshine or the beer, but there were lots of smiling faces!

There was something for everyone too. Families were enjoying the day together, with fairground rides for children. There was plenty of tasty food and drinks to buy. A highlight for me was seeing some Friendship Club members there too, having a lovely time.

As for the music, my favourite act was Beyoncy. Not everyone agreed with me, but I really enjoyed watching her perform. The dancers were fantastic too, very entertaining to watch and making it look easy!

The weather couldn’t have been better either - I loved how the air smelt of sunscreen and burgers.

The next day I looked online and saw some less positive comments about the festival, especially how the music sounded. I only noticed that a tiny bit, and it really didn’t spoil my day as I was so busy enjoying the atmosphere. I’m sure they will sort it out for another time.

Days like this remind me how important it is to get out, meet people and make happy memories.

I hope you’ve all been enjoying the sunshine too.
