Wimbledon

Hi readers, it’s Emily and William here this week, writing in the middle of an exciting match at Wimbledon, so we can’t hang around too long! In fact we really should be eating strawberries and cream in front of this men’s semi-final between Cameron Norrie and Novak Djokovic.

It’s an exciting game and by the time you read this of course, we will all know who the winner is, but currently it is two sets to one to Djokovic. Although he’s in the lead now, anything could happen.

I, William, of course want Norrie to win. He is the only British player left and it would be great news for the country. The last British player who has won a big tournament is Emma Raducanu. Will Norrie be the next Andy Murray I wonder?

As for me, Emily, I am not really sure why but am rooting for Djokovic. Maybe it’s because everyone else wants Norrie to win and I want to give Djokovic some support!

We both agree it is inspiring to watch these top players, who make it look so easy but of course it’s years and years of practice and dedication. I, William have never played tennis but would like to try. I, Emily played at school and we have also talked about playing with my housemates, which would be fun. It’s possible to get larger racquets and balls, which may good as I think that would be easier for us to learn with. I’d also like to see more tennis on tv, rather than it always being things like rugby, football or motor racing.

Next week we are going to meet again, when the tennis is over, and we will share our thoughts on politics after the resignation of Boris Johnson, as well as the heatwave!
