Cheering us up

Hi readers, it’s Kerry and William here today, hoping you are having a good start to the week.

Following on from our series of columns about Susie, the cat, and how she is helping cheer people up, today we’re thinking about other things that cheer us up. As it’s been a terrible week of weather, we’ve needed to use some of them!

For me, William, I like to watch football. I feel especially happy if it’s a close game, and then my team Dorchester, get to win. Seeing my friends always cheers me up, but if I’m at home, I mostly watch tv to relax and feel good. Programmes like Eastenders, Silent Witness, Gladiators and the Wheel are all good at helping me switch off and feel good.

I, Kerry, also like to watch tv. Today, after some time walking in my standing frame (I have a physical disability, for those of you who didn’t know), I was tired, so put on the TV. After watching two episodes of Grey’s Anatomy, I discovered how easy it is to get totally sucked in! For me, it’s one of those shows that once you start, you feel compelled to keep watching.

I also like seeing my friends, and we both enjoy going on holiday. We both agreed that being outside, on a sunny day, just basking in the sunshine, can make the world feel a brighter place! Just thinking about it, cheers us up.

As Emily isn’t here, we decided to guess what things makes her cheerful. Maybe listening to music in her room, and walking her dogs? We’ll let you know next time if we are right!

What cheers you up? Why not write a list of things that make you feel cheerful, and see what comes up for you too.
