Hi readers, it’s Emily here again this week, telling you more about Crafty Cuppa in Dorchester, where I volunteer each week.
As well as all the tasty drinks, food and games to play, which I talked about last week, there are also regular craft classes that you can join in with. These include pottery, fused glass, crafty wellbeing, crochet and resin, plus more.
Jenny, who set up Crafty Cuppa, also rents out shelf space for local craft sellers, as it was always her vision to help showcase other people’s work. If you are looking for something made locally and high quality, this is the place to come. Jenny herself is an artist and illustrator, with her own website, but creating this space was always her dream. There is even a space which you can rent if you want to run a workshop.
What I love most about going to Crafty Cuppa is this lovely warm and happy feeling that I feel, when I’m there. It’s a place where everyone is welcomed, just as they are, and people ‘get you’. Whether you just want to sit quietly with your coffee, or you’ve had a terrible week and want somewhere to take your mind off things, I think it’s impossible to come and not feel better when you leave.
It's definitely cheaper than therapy, but I think the benefits are just as good. I’ve made many new friends there and I love that I can be useful when I’m there too.
So, why don’t you check it out if you haven’t been. Give our local cafes a go, instead of the usual high street chain! There is a website you can look at if you are interested in seeing what’s on, or want to find out more.
