Highlights of our summer

Hi readers, it’s Emily and William here talking about what we have been doing over the summer.

One best thing was my, Emily’s, birthday party with all my friends, many I haven’t seen for years. We had lots of food, music and loads of laughing! Some brave people decided to do the ice bucket challenge with cold water, which was funny! Then we got some ice and had even more fun. William was sat in a garden chair and I put some down his back. He didn’t even know until he sat up!

So many people turned up – my support workers from IDirect, Laura and Lily, John from next door, Jack and Hannah, Mike and Tessa – it was so nice so many people came.

For me, William, I loved going to Duxford Air Show, even though it rained, with my sister and nephew. We stayed in a youth hostel, the three of us sharing a room which was fun. My brother met us there on the day which was great as I’ve not been together with my siblings like that for a long time.

I, Emily, also loved being spoilt by Mum, just the two of us having time together to see Bugsy Malone for my birthday present. I felt really nice as I wore a new pair of trousers and some shoes that Dad got me. Although it was a bit difficult to understand their gangster accents, it was still amazing! We went to an Italian restaurant afterwards as I knew Mum would like it too and the food was great. Some the actors from the show were in there too!

So we’ve had a great summer and especially loved being able to go out in the evenings without having to wrap up, or worry about coats and sensible shoes.
