Hi readers, it’s Emily and William here introducing you to our new co-writer, the fantastic Kerry!
We asked Kerry to join us writing our Tuesday Echo column because I, Emily, have lots going on right now, and although I will definitely still write when I can (I, William am pleased about this), it’s seems sensible for us to ask someone else to share their thoughts too.
We both agreed Kerry was right choice for many reasons. She has lots of knowledge and opinions; she is also friendly, reliable and very local to us. We wanted someone who can help us give you, our readers, the best column ever each week!
We know Kerry through People First Dorset and lucky for us she’s also become a good friend. She’s fun to be around and we have a laugh with her, so another great reason to ask her! We feel happy and honoured that she said yes!
So, what’s she like? Well, I, Kerry, am a wheelchair user and have a mild learning disability. I work for People First Dorset and am well known in my local community, always talking to people! In my spare time, apart from enjoying a night in the pub with friends, I am passionate about getting things right and thinking of or helping others. Like tonight, I was at an Action Group talking about how bad the pavements are in Dorchester, and what to do about it.
I am terrible at switching off, but I like music and watch tv sometimes, not currently though as all the news and politics is making me too depressed!
It’s good to have Kerry with us, Emily and William, and now you can look forward to a column sometimes with all three of us, or other times just two of us!
The writers of the Our View column are supported in their editing by People First Dorset - a charity led and run by people with learning disabilities with support from staff.
