Another crazy week in the world

Hi readers, it’s me, Kerry here this week, having a fab trip away, then trying to make sense of the world!

This last week, I had a fun trip to Bristol with my support worker, Louise, mainly to see the Moulin Rouge musical. It was so good, even Louise, who doesn't normally like musicals, loved it.

We stayed at a fancy, and hooray, accessible hotel! As some of you know, I use a wheelchair, so disabled-friendly places are really important. With amazing views from our 10th floor room, friendly staff, it being good value - I’d definitely stay again. In all, a total success - well, aside from my snoring keeping Louise awake!

This week I say goodbye to my other lovely support worker, Laurie. She’s starting an accountancy role as she needed more hours. Big thanks Laurie for your support. You’ve been brilliant.

Thankfully I’ve had a couple of strong applications from my advert to replace Laurie, and am excited to meet one of them this week.

I had a quiet weekend, and caught up with the news. It’s a crazy world for sure. There’s so much going on, lots of interesting stories, but it’s hard to keep up without getting overwhelmed - everything from seriously ill children from Gaza coming to Britain for NHS treatment (good); Britons withdrawing £5billion from pensions in the first quarter of 2025 to avoid tax rises (not another Rachel Reeves mess up?!);  to a national emergency test on 7 September at 3pm (check it out); and people on Strictly taking drugs (stupid) - and way more.

My partner Steve, and I, had a lively conversation about who’s doing better - Trump or Starmer. That’d take another article, so comment below if you want me to share that! For now, over and out!
