Hi readers, it’s Emily and Kerry here. This week we’re talking about Christmas plans, New Year, and looking ahead.
Before that though, I Kerry, want to say how much I enjoyed our Dorchester Christmas meal with People First Dorset. I didn’t get room to share this last week! The Junction Hotel put on an excellent meal for the 65 of us who came, and everything went very smoothly.
The disco was as popular as always, with lots of dancing, happy faces and of course, the annual conga around the pub, with Father Christmas leading the way. The whole evening felt so warm, friendly, and full of joy. One man in the pub said he loved seeing everyone having such a good time.
We are writing this before Christmas, so can’t tell you yet how that went, but I, Emily, do want to say I am looking forward to New Year’s Eve. My boyfriend Chris is coming over, and we are planning to play games, listen to music, and enjoy some nice food together.
Then, on New Year’s Day, it will be good too as my friend Bev is coming over with her carer for some nibbles and games.
We both feel that we can’t end the year without taking a moment to send our biggest, best wishes to our friend William. Some of you will know he’s been absent for a while from our column as he’s been a bit poorly. We hope he gets better very soon and are thinking of him.
It’s been such a busy year and we don’t know what 2026 will bring. Whatever it does, we look forward to continuing to share our thoughts and views with you, and we hope you keep enjoying reading them!
